Clinical Training & Interests

Throughout her graduate training, Elena has focused primarily on exposure-based approaches for OCD and anxiety-spectrum disorders. Elena’s clinical training was conducted in multiple settings, including a veteran treatment center, outpatient settings, partial hospital, and residential treatment programs. She spent two years training at intensive OCD and anxiety treatment centers, such as the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Institute (OCDI) at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD). During her training, she worked under the guidance of leading experts in the field of OCD treatment. Elena’s clinical experience includes working with patients across the lifespan, with a focus on an adult population. She also has experience working with a range of clinical presentations, such as personality disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and psychosis.

Her approach to treatment is primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) perspective, with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Elena has years of experience leading groups on a variety of therapeutic topics and leads group therapy development at CBTeam. Her therapeutic style is warm, genuine, and collaborative, often blending in some humor. In addition to working individually with clients, Elena loves facilitating group therapy to help clients understand CBT skills and concepts in collaborative and creative ways.
