Training the Next Generation of OCD & Anxiety Specialists

Effective treatment for OCD and anxiety requires specialized training, 1:1 supervision, and ongoing consultation. Without thoughtful supervision and extensive hands-on experience, access to high-quality Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will continue to remain limited.

At CBTeam, we believe exceptional care begins with exceptional training. Through structured evidence-based education, close supervision and mentorship, and progressive clinical experience, we are committed to developing the next generation of OCD and anxiety specialists, capable of providing compassionate, high-quality care.

Clinical Training

The CBTeam Clinical Training Pathway

Becoming an effective behavioral therapist requires far more than graduate coursework. It involves specialized training, close supervision, and meaningful real-world clinical experience. At CBTeam, clinicians join us through different educational pathways, yet all receive comprehensive training, ongoing supervision, and mentorship in evidence-based treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders.

Doctoral Practicum Behavioral Coaches

Doctoral and Master’s-level students from accredited Colleges and Universities around the country complete a highly immersive, year-long training at CBTeam, undertaking the essential role of Behavioral Coaches. During their training year, they receive specialized instruction and close supervision in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and evidence-based treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders while working within our Intensive ERP Program.

Throughout the experience, trainees receive graduated clinical responsibilities based on APA (American Psychological Association) competencies and personal performance in the training program. They work alongside our licensed clinicians supporting children, adolescents, and adults in both individual and intensive treatment settings. As they progress through the program, many receive hands-on training in delivering interventions on an individual basis under the close supervision of our licensed clinicians. Their development as clinicians involves assessment, skills training, intervention delivery, treatment planning, and consultation with CBTeam and outside treatment team members. A particular emphasis is placed on trainees developing refined capabilities to establish client-centered therapy with each client’s unique needs in mind.

Master’s-Level & Doctoral Behavioral Therapists

In addition to our doctoral training pathway, CBTeam employs master’s-level and doctoral-level clinicians who are working toward independent licensure. These clinicians receive specialized training in ERP, CBT, and evidence-based treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders while practicing under the supervision of our licensed clinical team.

Like all clinicians at CBTeam, they participate in ongoing supervision, consultation, and professional development to continue strengthening their clinical knowledge and skills while providing high-quality care.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

After earning their doctoral degree, psychologists may continue their advanced clinical training through our two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship. Fellows receive specialized supervision, expand their expertise in OCD and anxiety treatment, and continue refining their clinical skills while working toward independent licensure.

Our Training Philosophy

We take a developmental approach to clinical training. Rather than assigning the same responsibilities to every clinician, we introduce new clinical experiences based on demonstrated competency, clinical readiness, and professional growth.

Whether entering CBTeam as a doctoral trainee, as a master’s-level clinician, or during postdoctoral training, our clinicians receive structured supervision, regular case consultation, mentorship, and ongoing feedback designed to support continued professional growth. Clinical responsibilities are introduced progressively to ensure every clinician is well-prepared before advancing to the next level of responsibility.

Our goal is to develop thoughtful, confident, and compassionate specialists in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders.

Doctoral and Masters level training runs for a full 12 months, starting over the summer months. Applications for the following academic training year are collected in late fall, and offer letters tend to be sent out over the winter months.
