Training

Research suggests that access to training is a critical barrier to the dissemination of effective treatment techniques. Thus, part of CBTeam’s mission is to increase access to quality care by providing clinical training and supervision to our employees, graduate students seeking practicum placement, and outside professionals seeking to sharpen their clinical acumen. We look forward to the opportunity to pass down our knowledge we gained from years of therapeutic research and clinical experience at the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Clinical Practicum Opportunities

Graduate students looking for a clinical practicum placement are encouraged to apply between January 1 and March 31st for our year-long internship program that begins on August 1st. The placement provides an opportunity for trainees to gain expertise in evidenced-based treatments for anxiety and mood disorders, especially exposure and response prevention. Trainees will gain experience shadowing and co-leading exposure sessions, individual therapy, and group therapy that occurs in our outpatient treatment programs and intensive outpatient program. We provide weekly individual and group supervision as well.

Individual and Group Supervision

We offer individual and group supervision for non-CBTeam employees where clinicians are provided an opportunity to discuss challenging cases and learn more about effective interventions for individuals across the lifespan with anxiety disorders. Supervision is offered remotely or in-person at our Lexington, Massachusetts office. Individual supervision is provided for one hour weekly and sold in five week bundles where outside professionals can continue to seek on-going supervision for a maximum of one year.

Group supervision is conducted with two of our clinical team members that are most qualified to speak on the theme of the group supervision. Group supervision lasts 90 minutes each week and runs for eight consecutive weeks. Each group is limited to three members so that each member has 30 minutes to discuss their cases. Themes for group supervision are constantly changing and we are always open to suggestions!

Current Group Supervision topics:

  • Advanced Exposure Implementation
  • Delivering Exposure with Tricky Comorbidities
  • The Power of DBT and Exposure Therapy
  • Applying Current Treatment Research to Clinical Practice

Please inquire for more information about individual or group supervision at info@cbteam.org. We are happy to share more information about these group themes and start dates.

Post-Doctoral Fellows

As an organization that highly values training as a mechanism to increase access to care in the community, post-doctoral fellows are valued and serve as a critical part of our operations. Post-doctoral fellows can gain experience in the delivery of evidenced-based treatment for anxiety and OCD across the lifespan, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychological assessment and testing, supervision, intensive outpatient services, and group therapy.

We seek to hire post-doctoral fellows as positions become available and encourage any interested applicants to reach out to Dr. Adam Reid at adamreidphd@cbteam.org. We look forward to discussing how to tailor the numerous training opportunities at CBTeam to your interests and career goals. We are also happy to connect you to any current or former post-doctoral fellows, many of whom have taken staff positions with us.
